Site visit readiness assessment

Twelve questions to check whether a site visit is ready, with a score and the gaps to close before you book anyone.

Free, private and no signup. Published October 27, 2026.

Quick answer

What does this tool do?

This free assessment asks 12 questions about scope, access, parts, rollback, communication and evidence, then scores how ready an IT site visit is and lists the gaps to close first. It is a self-check based on common causes of delays, and your answers stay in your browser.

SCOPE

Is the goal of the visit written in one or two sentences?

Are the tasks written as ordered steps, one action per line?

Do you have an accurate list of the devices, with labels, locations and serial numbers?

ACCESS

Are the engineers registered with the site or facility, with any ticket or approval it needs?

Is it clear who on your side may approve work and changes during the visit?

Is there an approved change window or time slot?

PARTS AND TOOLS

Are parts, cables and tools confirmed, with someone to receive them on site?

Are delivery, loading dock or lift bookings arranged where needed?

SAFETY AND ROLLBACK

Is there a written way to undo each change if it does not behave as expected?

Have you listed what must not be touched, and when the engineer should stop and call?

COMMUNICATION

Will someone be on a phone or bridge to guide the engineer during the work?

EVIDENCE

Have you said what proof you want: photos, test results, work notes and where they go?

HOW IT WORKS

How to use it.

  1. Think of one visit. Have a single planned visit or task in mind.
  2. Answer each question. Choose Yes, Partly or No honestly. Partly counts for half.
  3. Read your score. The score and the list of gaps appear when you have answered all 12 questions.
  4. Close the gaps. Use the linked checklist and template, then run the assessment again.

BE HONEST

What it does not do.

  • It is a self-check, not an audit. It cannot see your site or your documents.
  • It covers common planning gaps. Your facility or change process may require more.
  • A high score does not guarantee the visit goes smoothly. It lowers the chance of avoidable delays.

YOUR DATA

Your data.

Intended for: Anyone about to send an engineer to a data center, office or branch.

QUESTIONS

Common questions.

What does the readiness score mean?
It is the share of possible points from your answers, where Yes is full credit and Partly is half. At 85 percent or more the visit looks ready, between 60 and 84 percent it is nearly ready, and below 60 percent there are gaps worth closing first.
Is this an official audit?
No. It is a quick self-check based on common causes of delays on IT site visits, such as missing access, unclear steps or no rollback. It does not replace your own change process.
Can I use it for a remote hands request?
Yes. It works for any single visit, including remote hands, installs, moves, cabling and surveys. Pair it with the remote hands request template for the written request.
Are my answers saved?
Only in your own browser, so you can come back later. They are never sent to a server. Use Start again to remove them.
