Overview

What is Smart Hands & Remote Hands?

Smart hands (also called remote hands) services provide on-demand physical support at data center facilities where you do not have local staff. Engineers execute tasks directed by your remote team: power cycling equipment, cable patching, visual inspections, hardware component swaps, media rotation, and cross-connect installations. The service bridges the gap between your remote monitoring and the physical reality in the data center.

PROCESS

Five-phase engagement.

  1. 1

    Request Submission

Submit your smart hands request via email, ticket, or phone with a clear description of the task and any safety or access considerations.

  2. 2

    Acknowledgement & Dispatch

We acknowledge the request within SLA, confirm the scope, and dispatch an engineer to the facility with any required materials.

  3. 3

    Task Execution

The engineer performs the task, following your instructions and communicating progress in real time via phone, chat, or your preferred channel.

  4. 4

    Verification & Evidence

Capture photographic evidence of the completed work, verify the outcome with your remote team, and confirm task completion.

  5. 5

    Documentation & Closure

Log the work notes, attach evidence, and close the request in your ITSM system with time and materials recorded.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

What is the difference between smart hands and remote hands?
The terms are used interchangeably in the industry. Both refer to providing a skilled engineer at a remote data center to perform physical tasks on your behalf.
How quickly can you respond to a smart hands request?
Standard response is within one hour during business hours and two hours after hours. For critical environments, 30-minute response is available with a premium retainer.
Can your engineers troubleshoot, or do they only follow instructions?
Our smart hands engineers have infrastructure experience and can perform basic troubleshooting. For complex diagnostic work, we offer senior-level engineers at a higher tier.
Do you operate in my data center?
We have access to hundreds of data centers globally. If we do not currently have access to your facility, we can arrange it, typically within a few business days.
How do you handle confidential or sensitive equipment?
Engineers follow your data handling policy, wear anti-static protection, and can operate under your supervision via video call. Background-checked engineers are available for sensitive environments.
