Infrastructure Support

UPS & Power.

Maintenance and emergency repair of UPS systems, PDUs, and power distribution infrastructure that protect critical IT loads.

Overview

What is UPS & Power?

UPS and power support services maintain the uninterruptible power supplies, PDUs, and electrical distribution systems that protect your IT infrastructure from power failures. We perform battery testing, firmware updates, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs to ensure your critical systems remain powered through outages and voltage fluctuations.

WHY IT MATTERS

Why UPS & Power matters.

Power protection is invisible until the night it matters. Batteries age quietly, and a UPS that looks healthy on a status page may hold only a few moments of charge. Circuits get loaded as equipment is added over the years, and nobody rechecks how close the distribution unit is to its limit. A bypass switch that has not been exercised may fail when it is needed. The result is an outage that turns a short utility blip into a long recovery, with servers shutting down uncleanly and equipment damaged by sudden loss of power.

Good looks like a protected load that has been tested rather than assumed. Batteries are checked on a schedule and replaced before they fail. Load on each circuit is known, with headroom left for growth. Bypass and transfer procedures are written down and practiced during planned windows, so no one is reading a manual during an emergency. Alerts from the UPS reach a monitored inbox. Your staff know how long the equipment will run on battery and what happens when that time runs out, which is the fact that shapes a shutdown plan.

SCOPE

Scope of service.

  • 01UPS battery testing and replacement
  • 02UPS firmware updates and configuration checks
  • 03PDU inspection, fuse replacement, and load balancing
  • 04Automatic transfer switch (ATS) testing
  • 05Power capacity monitoring and threshold alerting
  • 06Emergency UPS fault response and bypass procedures

CHOOSING

Choosing this service.

What to decide before you order, and what sits outside the scope.

UPS care versus electrical work

Our engineers service IT power equipment: UPS units, batteries, rack distribution and related monitoring. Fixed wiring, breaker panels and building supply are the work of licensed electricians. If your problem lies upstream of the equipment, bring in an electrician and we will coordinate on site.

Set a runtime goal first

Decide what the UPS is for. Some sites only need enough runtime for a clean shutdown, while others must ride through until a generator takes over. The goal drives battery sizing, test frequency and how quickly a weak battery must be replaced, so settle it before ordering.

Find out if you have a bypass

A maintenance bypass lets an engineer service the UPS without cutting power to the load. Without one, battery work may need a planned shutdown. Check what your units provide and schedule accordingly, because this single fact decides how disruptive the visit will be.

Larger systems may need the maker

A single rack UPS in a closet is straightforward. Larger three-phase systems, or units under a manufacturer service contract, may have warranty conditions that require the maker's own technicians. Tell us what contracts exist so we work alongside them rather than voiding anything.

Not included

  • Fixed electrical wiring, breaker panels and generator servicing require licensed electricians and are arranged separately from IT power support.
  • Repairs restricted by warranty on large UPS systems may have to be carried out by the manufacturer's own service technicians.
  • Battery disposal follows local rules and is arranged with a qualified waste handler, possibly quoted separately.
  • Load bank equipment and any building outage needed for a full test are coordinated with your facilities team.

USE CASES

Typical scenarios.

Scenario 01

A data center operator needing semi-annual battery testing and annual load bank tests across 40 UPS units.

Scenario 02

A corporate office replacing aging UPS batteries in three comms rooms to maintain 30-minute runtime protection.

Scenario 03

A hospital requiring emergency UPS repair after a battery failure in the radiology department's power room.

PROCESS

How the work runs.

  1. 1

    Inventory the power chain

The engineer records each UPS, distribution unit and protected device, along with battery age, labels and monitoring cards where visible. This shows which equipment depends on which source.

  2. 2

    Test and inspect

Batteries are tested, connections and indicators inspected, and load readings compared against capacity. Warning signs such as swollen cells, heat or alarms are recorded and reported straight away.

  3. 3

    Service with a safety plan

Any battery swap or bypass operation follows a written procedure agreed in advance, including who is told, which systems are at risk and how to restore normal operation if something misbehaves.

  4. 4

    Document the results

You receive test readings, replacement recommendations and a plain statement of expected runtime where it can be established. Follow-up items are listed with owners so they do not fade.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

How often should UPS batteries be tested?
We recommend battery testing every six months and full load bank testing annually. Battery replacement is typically required every three to five years depending on the UPS model and operating conditions.
Which UPS brands do you service?
We service APC (Schneider Electric), Eaton, Vertiv (Liebert), Riello, and other enterprise UPS brands.
Can you perform UPS maintenance without downtime?
For UPS systems with maintenance bypass switches, we can perform battery swaps and servicing without powering down your IT load.
Do you monitor UPS systems remotely?
We integrate with SNMP and network management cards to monitor UPS health, battery status, and load levels. Alerts are routed to our support team or your NOC.
What should we do before a planned power outage?
Tell us early so an engineer can check battery health beforehand and confirm shutdown order. Make sure monitoring alerts reach someone on the day. Know how long your equipment will run on battery, and decide which systems are shut down cleanly first. A short rehearsal beforehand often exposes gaps in the plan.
Can you tell whether our UPS is overloaded?
Usually yes, by reading the load shown on the unit and comparing it to its rated capacity, then checking the individual circuits and distribution units. Readings are a snapshot, so we also look at what has been added recently. If headroom looks thin, we explain the options for moving or reducing load.
Are old batteries treated differently from other waste?
Yes. Used batteries are regulated in many places and should go to a qualified handler rather than ordinary disposal. We confirm the arrangement with you before removal, keep the disposal paperwork where it is provided, and note any local rules your site or landlord imposes on moving them.
