Quick answer

What is Pre-Move and Post-Move IT Checklists?

A pre-move and post-move checklist is a signed record of what was connected before an IT relocation and what was verified working afterward. Deploris engineers complete both against the same asset list and the site contact countersigns each, so you hold evidence that every device, port, and peripheral arrived intact and functional.

WHAT THE WORK COVERS

What Pre-Move and Post-Move IT Checklists includes.

  • 01Destination readiness checks before move day: power outlets, live network ports, patch panel labels, and furniture in place
  • 02As-is documentation of the source desk or rack: photos, cable routing, and labels on both cable ends
  • 03A per-desk asset list with serials, docks, monitors, phones, and any non-standard peripherals or adapters
  • 04Handling controls: anti-static packing, extra protection for monitors, and boxes labelled by destination and owner
  • 05Post-move functional tests: link and IP address, directory login, printing, softphone or desk phone, displays, and peripherals
  • 06A punch list of defects and missing items, each with an owner and a target date
  • 07Countersignature by the site contact with name, date, and time

HOW WE DELIVER IT

How it is delivered.

  1. 1

    Pre-move survey

An engineer inspects the destination for power, ports, and space, compares it with the asset list, and reports any gap to your facilities or cabling team before move day.

  2. 2

    Pre-move checklist and labelling

Every item is photographed, labelled, and ticked against the list. The site contact reviews the checklist and signs that the source state is recorded.

  3. 3

    Move and reinstall

Equipment is disconnected, transported, and reconnected at the destination to the recorded layout, with cable labels matched to the pre-move photos.

  4. 4

    Post-move verification

The engineer runs the post-move tests desk by desk, logs failures on the punch list, and obtains the site contact's countersignature before the move is closed.

INPUTS AND OUTPUTS

What you provide and what you receive.

You provide

  • The move plan: who moves where, the date window, and any desks with fixed deadlines
  • Confirmation that destination power, network ports, and furniture will be ready
  • A named site contact at both source and destination who can sign
  • Your post-move acceptance tests if they go beyond link, login, print, and peripherals

You receive

  • A completed pre-move checklist and a completed post-move checklist for each desk or rack, both countersigned
  • As-is photos taken before disconnection and as-built photos after reconnection
  • A punch list of open defects with owners
  • An updated asset location record for every moved device

WHEN IT FITS

When this is the right deliverable.

Scenario 01

A department of 60 staff is changing floors over a weekend and Monday morning must start with every desk working.

Scenario 02

A facilities manager needs written proof that the destination was ready and that nothing was damaged, so disputes with movers or landlords can be settled.

Scenario 03

An IT lead is relocating a small server room or comms cabinet and needs the cable layout recorded precisely enough to rebuild it elsewhere.

WHERE WE DELIVER

Delivered in 75+ metros across 11 countries.

Local, vetted engineers deliver this work on site across the United States and Western Europe, coordinated by one engagement manager.

QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions.

What should a pre-move IT checklist cover?
A pre-move checklist should cover destination power and network readiness, a per-desk asset list with serials, photos of the current setup, cable labelling, and handling requirements for fragile items. It should also record who signs for the source state. Deploris completes it before any equipment is disconnected.
Why do we need a post-move checklist as well?
The post-move checklist proves the result. It records what was tested at each desk, such as link, login, printing, and displays, and lists defects with owners. Without it, problems surface as scattered tickets on Monday with no evidence of whether the move or the destination caused them.
Who signs the checklists?
The field engineer completes each checklist and a named site contact countersigns it. The contact is usually a facilities lead, team manager, or local IT representative that you nominate. Their name, date, and time are recorded, so the sign-off identifies who accepted the work.
What happens if the destination is not ready on move day?
The pre-move survey exists to catch this earlier. If a gap is found, the engagement manager reports it to your facilities or cabling team in advance. If it is still unresolved on the day, the engineer records it with photos and holds the affected desks, rather than reconnecting equipment to untested ports.
