Smart Hands Photographic Task Evidence.

Photographic evidence of completed tasks

Quick answer

What is Smart Hands Photographic Task Evidence?

Photographic evidence for smart hands is a set of timestamped photos an engineer captures before, during, and after a data center task to show what was done. Deploris attaches labeled images of ports, indicators, asset tags, and cabling to the ticket, so your remote team can verify the result without traveling to the site.

WHAT THE WORK COVERS

What Smart Hands Photographic Task Evidence includes.

  • 01Before and after photos of every port, cable, and component the engineer touched
  • 02Close-ups of asset tags, serial numbers, and rack U position so the device identity is unambiguous
  • 03LED state shots for servers, switches, PSUs, and drive bays, including link and activity lights
  • 04Both ends of any patched or re-seated cable, with the label legible in frame
  • 05A wide shot with the cage or rack identifier visible to confirm location
  • 06A consistent file naming pattern using ticket number, rack, U position, and sequence

HOW WE DELIVER IT

How it is delivered.

  1. 1

Agree the photo standard by task type

A drive swap needs the bay, the old drive label, and the new drive label. A cable move needs both ends and the port number. We write this checklist once so photos are consistent across engineers.

  2. 2

    Capture the before state

On arrival the engineer photographs the rack, the target device, and the current indicator and cable state. This protects both sides if a pre-existing fault is found.

  3. 3

Capture the after state and labels

When the task is complete, the engineer repeats each frame, adds close-ups of any new labels, and confirms the indicator state you expect to see.

  4. 4

Attach and verify with your team

Images are attached to the ticket and, where you want it, shared live on a call. Your remote engineer confirms the result before the request is closed.

INPUTS AND OUTPUTS

What you provide and what you receive.

You provide

  • The facility's camera or photography policy, or written approval from the operator where one is required
  • Rack, U position, and port details for each task
  • Your preferred delivery channel, such as ticket attachment, email, or a shared folder
  • Any areas or neighboring equipment that must stay out of frame

You receive

  • A labeled photo set attached to each completed request
  • Matched before and after pairs for every changed component
  • A short photo index listing what each image shows and the capture time
  • Evidence you can reuse in change records and supports your audit documentation

WHEN IT FITS

When this is the right deliverable.

Scenario 01

Your team approves a change from a different country and needs proof that the right cable moved to the right port before closing the change record.

Scenario 02

A vendor disputes whether a failed drive was actually replaced, and you want an image of the bay and the drive label as the record.

Scenario 03

An internal audit asks for evidence that asset tags and rack locations match the CMDB for a set of devices.

WHERE WE DELIVER

QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions.

What photos should a remote hands engineer take after a task?
At minimum, the changed component, its label or serial number, the rack and U position, and the indicator state after the change. For cabling, both ends and the port numbers. The exact list is set per task type in the checklist you approve.
Can smart hands engineers take photos in any colocation facility?
Not always. Many colocation operators restrict photography to your own cage or rack, and some require prior approval. We check the policy per site, keep other tenants' equipment out of frame, and tell you if a facility rule limits what can be captured.
Are smart hands photos timestamped and suitable for audits?
Photos carry capture metadata from the engineer's device and are attached to the ticket at the time of the work, which supports your audit and change record evidence. Whether that meets a specific auditor's standard is your decision, so we align the format with your requirements.
Can I watch the task live instead of waiting for photos?
Yes. Live video or phone guidance is available where the facility allows it, and engineers can share their camera view while working. Live viewing and stored photos work well together, because the photos remain as the permanent record after the call ends.
