Firewall Installation and Rule-Set Implementation.

Firewall installation with rule-set implementation per your security policy

Quick answer

What is Firewall Installation and Rule-Set Implementation?

Firewall installation with rule-set implementation is the physical deployment of a next-generation firewall and the translation of your written security policy into configured zones, rules, NAT, and VPN tunnels. Deploris engineers install the appliance, implement the rules your security team approves, test traffic, and hand over a saved configuration and verification results.

WHAT THE WORK COVERS

What Firewall Installation and Rule-Set Implementation includes.

  • 01Appliance rack mounting, power, and interface cabling for WAN, LAN, DMZ, and out-of-band management
  • 02Zone and interface configuration, address and service objects, and rule ordering that follows your approved policy document
  • 03Source and destination NAT, static routes or dynamic routing, and policy-based forwarding where the design requires it
  • 04Site-to-site IPsec and remote access VPN configuration with phase 1 and phase 2 parameters matched to the far end
  • 05Activation of IPS, antivirus, URL filtering, and decryption profiles as defined in your policy, with logging pointed to your SIEM or syslog collector
  • 06High-availability pair setup (active/passive or active/active) with failover and failback testing
  • 07Cutover execution with a documented rollback plan, plus a rule-by-rule verification using test traffic and hit counters

HOW WE DELIVER IT

How it is delivered.

  1. 1

    Receive the policy and design

We review your rule matrix, object naming standards, NAT plan, and VPN peers with your security team, and list open questions in writing before staging begins.

  2. 2

    Stage the firewall

The appliance is upgraded to the agreed software release, licensed, configured offline, and tested on a bench so the cutover contains as few unknowns as possible.

  3. 3

    Install and cut over

During the approved window an engineer installs the unit, moves interfaces from the old firewall, and keeps the rollback path ready until traffic is confirmed.

  4. 4

    Verify and document

We test each rule and tunnel with real traffic, check logs for unexpected denies, save the configuration, and deliver the verification record and closeout report.

INPUTS AND OUTPUTS

What you provide and what you receive.

You provide

  • A written security policy or rule matrix approved by your security owner
  • Firewall hardware, licenses, and the software release you want deployed
  • VPN peer details, certificates or pre-shared key handling instructions, and ISP circuit information
  • An approved change window with a named contact who can authorize rollback
  • Access to your logging, SIEM, or central management platform for integration

You receive

  • An installed firewall with the approved policy implemented
  • An exported configuration backup and the software version recorded
  • A rule verification sheet showing the test traffic used and the result for each rule
  • VPN tunnel status evidence and HA failover test results
  • A closeout report with photos of the cabling and a list of any deviations from the policy

WHEN IT FITS

When this is the right deliverable.

Scenario 01

You are replacing an aging perimeter firewall pair and need the existing rule base migrated, cleaned up by your team, and cut over inside a short maintenance window.

Scenario 02

You are rolling out the same firewall model and policy to many branch locations managed through a central console.

Scenario 03

Your security team has written the policy but has no staff on site, and you need an engineer to implement it exactly and record what was tested.

QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions.

Does firewall installation service include writing the firewall rules?
We implement the rule set your security team approves. If you want help, we can review the draft policy against your network layout and flag overly broad rules or missing logging, but your security owner decides what goes live.
How do you migrate rules from an old firewall to a new one?
We export the existing configuration, map objects and rules to the new platform, and flag anything that does not translate cleanly for your team to decide. Unused or shadowed rules are reported rather than silently dropped.
What does a firewall high-availability test involve?
We confirm that configuration and session state sync between the pair, then fail the active unit over by pulling a link or rebooting it. We check that traffic continues, that VPNs recover, and that failback behaves as designed, then record the results.
How do you limit downtime when swapping a production firewall?
The new firewall is configured and tested on a bench first. During the window the engineer moves cables interface by interface, checks traffic after each move, and keeps the old unit powered and ready so the rollback path stays short.
